SSIS – SSISTalk.com Content

If you have something that you’d like to see blogged here regarding SSIS and/or SQL Server, please let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

Also, if you find a post here that you’re using to work on an issue in SSIS 2008, let me know if it isn’t working for you. It could be that I don’t have updated content for use in the SSIS 2008 environment. It’s easy enough to update, I just won’t be able to catch all of the items listed here.

One last thing – the annual MVP Summit is coming up in February. If you have something that you’d like for me to bring to the SSIS dev team in terms of feedback, feature requests, bugs, etc…, let me know and I’ll do my best to present them to the team.

I’ve been looking for an answer for this SSIS problem. Found some example using Execute SQL Task with but not quite solving my problem.

I have 13 ssis packages all the same that load data from 13 different oracle databases into a SQL Server database. I want to know how to have Global variables declared that can be used in the SQL code of an ADO.Net dataflow source so that I can change the Global variables instead of hard coding specific values such as shopname, IP address, shopnumbers etc all over the place.

Your answer will be most kindly appreciated.

    Hello,
I have been trying to solve a variable issue as well that I cannot seem to figure out for some time. I am using a string variable and date commands in the connection string as it says to do in all the blogs to save a file with a prefix and the datetime. The problem I have is that the SSIS job is creating two files – a data file and a control file. Both files must have the same datetime stamp on them with only the extensions different. My issue is that the time it takes to run both can be a second off so the file names are not exact.

Can you please advise on how I can make them the same?
    Thanks,
    Greg
